An Employee Volunteer Program (EVP) is a business practice which seeks to enable employees to volunteer under the sponsorship and leadership of the employer. An EVP allows a company to share their resources with the community and local nonprofits through volunteerism. EVPs often encourage and motivate employees to match paid volunteer time with external personal volunteer hours. Effective and sustainable EVPs meet company priorities, address employee interests, and target real community needs. A formalized EVP may consist of a company’s plan, policy, budget, staffing and support for recruiting, retaining, recognizing and engaging employee volunteers.
